There is nothing worse than spending time with your kids carving a perfect pumpkin, only to have it shrivel up and collapse before Halloween night. Here are some tips to make the prized Jack O'Lantern last longer. You should realistically expect to get four to seven days out of your Halloween pumpkins.
Take a Q-tip and Vaseline all the cut edges on the face that you've carved.
If you store the pumpkin in a refrigerator it will help to slow down the shriveling.
Wrap plastic cling wrap covering the area that has been carved.
If all else fails, submerse the pumpkin in cold water to rehydrate the carving. Let it soak for about 1/2 hour to 2 hours.
